    Why we like it
    Location, location, location… Preskil has a great spot surrounded by views of the coral island of Ile aux Aigrettes, Blue Bay Marine Park and Lion Mountain.

    Offering a relaxed island atmosphere with a superb choice of dining options. There are a pile of free water sports from water skiing to sail boats, snorkelling outings and glass-bottom boat trips. An added bonus is that it is a mere 10 minutes from the airport.

    All 200 rooms are garden and sea views and offer breathtaking views across the lagoon.

    Standard Rooms: Located on the ground and first floor with garden views. 36m2 with shower

    Lagoon Rooms: Located on the ground and first floor with sea view. 38m2 room with shower.

    Prestige Cottage: Located on the ground floor with sea views. 42m2 with separate shower and bathtub. Includes bathrobe and slippers.

    Deluxe Penthouse: Located on the first floor, these 64 m2 rooms with breathtaking sea view offer open plan bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. Includes bathrobe & slippers.

    • The All Inclusive package starts upon guest arrival and ends at 15h00 on day of departure.

    • Spices - The hotel's main restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the evenings, themed buffets conjure up all the magic of Asia, Africa and of course Mauritius as well as European delights.

    • Charka Steak House & Bar - This “à la carte” restaurant is a MUST during your stay with its African concept and influence, Charka proposes a large choice of meat imported from South Africa and has its own bar. Opens for dinner only.

    • Tapas Grill & Beach Bar - Open for lunch and dinner. Ideally located on the beachfront.

    HISTORY

    Claimed by the Dutch in the year 1598, and occupied by the French between 1715 and 1810, Mauritius was ruled by Great Britain from 1814 after the Treaty of Paris. The island gained independence from Britain in 1968 and became a Republic in 1992.

    LANGUAGE
    Due to its multicultural diversity, Mauritius boasts a number of spoken languages. The majority of the population is bilingual, fluent in both English and French. Creole and French are the main languages of the island.

    CULTURE
    Diverse ethnic groups make up the population of Mauritius. Immigrants, originally from Africa, India, France, Great Britain and China brought along their cultures, languages, values and traditions when they settled on the island. The various ethnicities live alongside one another making Mauritius a harmonious multicultural nation.

    CLIMATE
    The island is blessed with a tropical climate. Summer is from November to May, during this period the temperature varies between 22 °C and 35 °C. Winter is from May to November with a temperature variance between 17 °C and 26 °C. The sea temperature varies between 22 °C and 26 °C.

    BANKING HOURS
    Monday to Thursday: 9.15 am - 3.15 pm, Friday: 9.15 am -3.30 pm, Saturday: 9.15 am -11.15 am. Banks are also open to coincide with the arrival and departure of international flights at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport.

    CURRENCY
    The monetary unit is the Mauritian Rupee (Rs.) which is divided into 100 cents (cs). ZAR1 = Rs4

    ECONOMY
    The Mauritian economy is based on four sectors: Textile, Tourism, Sugar and Services – with tourism the largest sector.

    BABY SITTING
    All hotels will provide a babysitting service at a fee. Advance bookings are essential.

    WHAT TO PACK
    Take along your best beach and casual wear, perfect for the day. The dress for dinner is smart casual and gents are required to wear long trousers. Sunglasses and suntan lotion are a must.
